My Recent LED ATCs Class!

I had a great time at the Fiber Art Divas meeting last Monday, where I taught my LED Artist Trading Cards Class!  Take a look at the fabulous work my students did!
Every piece is so different!
No one in this class used the suggested patterns, they all branched out on their own, which is awesome!
Everyone's project lit up!  That always makes me happy!
How cool is this group?  Love these ladies...
Even abstracts are cool with lights!
So cool!
This was a blast to teach, and we had a lot of fun!

Fiber Art Divas Show October 22 to 30, 2011

My work will be in the annual Fiber Art Divas show which will be held October 22 through 30 at the Naperville Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 North Center St., Naperville, IL. The show will feature one-of-a-kind art incorporating techniques such as art quilting, wool felting, knitting, mixed fiber, silk painting, and more. Items on display will include wall art, fiber sculpture, jewelry, and art-to wear. Several items from various artists will be available for purchase.

The show represents the work of the Fiber Art Divas, a local group of fiber art enthusiasts who meet monthly to share ideas and explore new techniques. Several of the group’s members are award-winning or published artists.  Theme challenges from the past year will be featured along with other work by the artists.
An artists’ reception, open to the public, will be held Sunday, October 23 from 1 to 4 p.m.  Demonstrations of various fiber art methods will be held Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during the Sunday reception.

Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 1 to 4 p.m., Monday 7 to 9 p.m., closed Tuesday, Wednesday through Saturday noon to 4 p.m.  Admission is free.

Come see me give a lecture!

I'm giving a lecture about e-textiles at Naperville Art League on April 25th at 7pm to the Fiber Art Divas!  Admission is $3.00!  What a bargain!
My 45 ish minute talk will go over the basics of the e-textile/fiber technology movement, some of the latest developments in fashion and costume, and also include a mini trunk show of my tech-textile quilts.

If you can make it, I would love to see you there!

The Fiber Divas' gallery show

Whose 3 light up pieces are there at the bottom?
The Fiber Divas' show has been very popular so far!  We have had lots of people come by and visit it.  Here's a sampling of the gallery space and how the show looks.  We are so pleased with the hanging and look of the show. The comments in our guestbook have been very positive and encouraging.  There's still a few days left if you would like to come and see it!
Lots of people!

My work in local gallery

I am part of a lovely group of art ladies called the Fiber Art Divas, who meet at a local art gallery to exchange ideas, present challenges to get our brains and fibers moving, and just general friendship.
I joined these ladies shortly after I got to the area, and their support has been invaluable.
We're having a gallery show at the end of the month, which you can read about here.  It's Oct 23rd to the 30th at Naperville Art League.  My work will be included so I hope you come to see our show. Please sign our guestbook if you do. This is a pic of our last show, it was a huge success for us!  This photo is of our last show.

Walking in Memphis

By the time you read this, I'll be in Memphis TN for the comic book industry job I have. Be there through Sunday. Missing my brother's birthday and my sister's candle party...

My back is not fully recovered so no sewing has happened in the studio. Lots of reading and crocheting, but little sewing. The ideas are building up, and the big IQA show in Chicago is looming with all kinds of ideas and classes to take and money to spend there...

I am teaching my Fiber Art Divas group how to make the Yo Yo Flowers (sorry for those of you still waiting on the pattern). I'll let you know how it goes. This is just coming off of teaching it as a half hour demo at the Riverwalk Quilt Guild's Gathering show.

I have a project to take with me on the plane, but we'll see how much gets done. I may just nap instead.

In the meantime, I submitted one of my sad February quilts for a "ghost for a ghost" project over on Astulabee's Blog and Flickr page. Go check it out!

Quickie Update

I'm about to get on a plane to Las Vegas for work, but here's some of my latest work.
This robot is either putting his heart back or taking it out. Your choice.
The last of the Robot theme. He's kinda happy.

This is 12 x 12 inches. It's made for my calendar entry for January for my Fiber Art Divas group. This looks exactly like the sketch and like what I pictured in my head.
Gotta run, but that contest I want to run is coming soon. Stay tuned!
